Tax Payments

We are not able to process credit/debit card payments at this time

Summer bills are mailed at the end of June, payable starting July 1. If you do not receive your bill within a timely manner, you may obtain a copy from our office. Failure to receive your bill does not exempt any interest or penalty from being applied. Summer tax is due from July 1 to September 14 without interest. Interest will accrue after September 14.

Winter bills are mailed at the end of November, payable starting December 1. If you do not receive your bill within a timely manner, you may obtain a copy from our office. Failure to receive your bill does not exempt any interest or penalty from being applied. Winter tax is due from December 1 to February 14 without penalty and interest. However, you can still pay that tax at the township office through the last day in February. Delinquent taxes after the last day in February will then be turned over to the Manistee County Treasurer’s office. March 1 and after payments are to be made at the Manistee County Treasurer’s office and not at Filer Township.

In order to receive an accurate tax bill, the township treasurer needs to know of any changes to your housing situation. Examples of changes that impact tax bills are a new mortgage or escrow company, transfer of ownership or a change in your principal residence information.

If your property taxes are paid through an escrow account, please be aware it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to make sure taxes are paid on time by your mortgage or escrow company, and failure to receive a tax bill does not waive interest or penalty.
